ABOUT

Evelyn Carr is an award-winning and versatile soprano whose voice has been described as “beautiful and soulful.” She is a graduate of Harvard University, where she studied voice through the Holden Voice Program. She is also a graduate of The Juilliard School Pre-College program where she studied with Lorraine Nubar. 


In Summer 2025, Evelyn studied with Classic Lyric Arts in the Périgord region of France, performing in scenes as Cendrillon from Cendrillon and Eurydice from Orphée et Eurydice.


At Harvard, Evelyn performed in roles such as Kate Stanley in The Pirates of Penzance, Madame de la Haltière in Cendrillon, and Maureen Johnson in Viva La Vie Bohème, an innovative production blending Jonathan Larson's Rent and Puccini's La Bohème. She was also featured in the role of Minister in the 2025 World Premiere of American Jezebel: The Trial of Anne Hutchinson, a new opera commissioned by Harvard University. Evelyn was also a featured soloist in several concerts at Harvard.


Before Harvard, Evelyn performed in scenes as Juliette (Roméo et Juliette) and Poppea (L'incoronazione di Poppea) at The Juilliard School and Rosina (Il Barbiere di Siviglia) at Manhattan School of Music. She was also a featured soloist with the Danbury Music Centre Orchestra.


Evelyn is the recipient of a National YoungArts Merit Award in Classical Voice, a scholarship from the George London Foundation, and first-place finishes in the Forte International Music Competition, Rondo Young Artist Vanguard Competition and NY Lyric Opera National Vocal Competition.


Evelyn studied English Literature and Music at Harvard and has experience in public relations, journalism, and nonprofit administration. She was a Staff Writer on the Arts Board of The Harvard Crimson and served as the Executive Producer of Harvard CityStep, a nonprofit organization that provides free arts enrichment classes for children in Cambridge Public Schools. She also served as the Producer of Harvard’s Eliot House Tiny Desk Concert Series and on the Executive Board of the Radcliffe Choral Society. Evelyn graduated magna cum laude and received the David McCord Prize for talent in the creative arts, a Davison Fellowship for Travel in Music, the Robert Kiely Prize for Outstanding Junior Essay, and was a John Harvard Scholar.
